The three sessions
The Asian (Tokyo) session is generally the quietest, with tighter ranges. The London session brings the biggest jump in volume and often sets the day's direction. The New York session overlaps London for a few hours and carries US data and equity-market influence.
The London–New York overlap is the busiest window of the day — the deepest liquidity and largest moves, when both major financial centres are trading at once. Most intraday strategies are built around it.
